Ashford Castle
is a 5 star hotel on the banks of
Loch Corrib with the
River Cong
running through its grounds. Visitors are welcome to explore the
gardens for a small fee and there is a separate restaurant and
gift shop in the grounds, both open to non-residents
Ballinrobe
Golf Course lies just outside the town and
visitors are most welcome. It is a fabulous 18 hole parkland golf
course, recently being voted the best in
Connacht
Ballinrobe Race Course provides an opportunity
for an enjoyable evening or day out at one of its regular Summer
meetings, with great facilities for all the family. the

There a several restaurants and cafes in
Ballinrobe
and a variety of take away restaurants to cater for all tastes.
The Bowers in
the town centre and
Flannery's in
the market square is recommended. And if you are self-catering,
there are 4 supermarkets in
Ballinrobe;
Tesco,
Supervalu, Aldi and
Centra and
there are mini-markets in the local filling stations which are
normally open late
A "must have" experience is to take one
of the daily cruises on Lough
Corrib, which depart from
Lisloughrey Bay.

The village of
Cong is a 15
minute drive away and has become a very popular tourist
attraction on the back of the 1952 movie
The Quiet Man,
starring John Wayne
and Mareen O'hara.
There are ample shops, restaurants, cafes, gift shops, art
galleries and beautiful riverside walks to make a visit to
Cong very
worthwhile

for those guests who would like to see the local scenery whilst
